Welcome
to the updated Swiss Political Links websites we present you not
only in a new and more up-to-date look but also with more
information than ever before. More than 9000 links lead you from
here across the net to the websites of Swiss townhalls, sections
of political parties, politician, organizations, and general
information about Switzerland.
How it all started
(as written in late 1998):
In the beginning the primary aim of these web-sites was rather self interested:
In the summer of 1998 the editing commitee were planning the (forthcoming) study on "The Internet and Political Publicity" on the basis of a collection of as many web-sites as possible concerning Swiss politics. On the other hand students and researchers of the
Institute of Sociology should profit from this "work of reference" as well.
By and by the Swiss Political Links got into a state of maturity which allowed us to customize them "to the rank and file". We first announced this collection in our main web "Sociology in Switzerland" and afterwards in the search engine of
BlueWindow/AltaVista,
later in
Google to enlarge our target audience both in the geographical width and the social depth.
Although the Swiss Political Links primarily deal with Swiss, or at least Swiss
concerning affairs these web-sites don't apply only to the Swiss public. This is the reason for these sites are mainly titled and described in English - the prime language on the net (after date). We kept cantonal sites in the native language(s) for the links collected there mostly lead to web sites held only in this language. One of our aims will be the publication of a multilingual version of the Swiss Political Links.
